Music magazine research

What is the impact of the internet on the music magazine industry?

 • 1. Researching: What is the impact of the internet on the music magazine industry?

 • 2. Introduction As this is something I’m thinking of pursuing in the future as the basis of a career choice, I thought I would research the impact that the Internet has had on the music magazine industry. This study is important in the sense that music magazines need to know how to keep up with the digital age so they can continue to appeal to their target audience. To find out what people think the impact of the Internet has had on music magazines, I needed to break the subject down into different parts and investigate each of them in different research methods.

 • 3. Research methods the reason I used more than one method of research is to back up the facts I found out. This makes my research more reliable and legitimate, because I’ve found it out using different ways. Personally, I think that qualitative research is most important to this research study because it’s the consumer’s opinion that matters most. They are the ones who the music magazines cater for, so their needs are the ones that have to be met. Music Magazines – Research Presentation Transcript

Puff: Enhances the overall presentation of the magazine and appeals to the audience through words such as “FREE” and “ALSO” – readers think that they’re getting special content with no extra cost and makes them more inclined to buy this issue. Masthead: It’s positioned behind the main image and on the top 1/3 of the page, clearly following the conventions of magazine front covers. The font of the masthead is the biggest out of all the text on the page, drawing attention to it. Sky line: Follows the theme and font of the rest of the page, but includes a coloured photo in the corner unlike the rest of the cover. Mode of address: The cover lacks in personal address of the audience, with the buzz words and puffs shaping a type of identification and connection with the consumers. The front page is very expressive through the use of words like “honest” and “heartache”, and the frequent use of exclamation marks. Main cover line:Mojo only reveals a quote from the lead article making the reader interested in the content of it. The name is spread across the page attracting the potential buyer.
