MOJO contents page analysis

Contents page analysis.

Gorged with detail, this magazines contents page has a variety of things going on making the magazine more attractive to read. The use of the separate bar “Features” makes it very easy to establish that the stories to follow are all going to be features of the magazine.

The use of the month and the year in capitals at the top third of the page allows if the cover goes missing then the reader know what date the magazine was issued on. The smart use of the issue number allows new readers to clearly see that MOJO have issued many magazines previous to this one and in order to have such a large amount of copies issued it must certainly have to be a very popular and well selling magazine.

As red, white and black are the main colour scheme generally used throughout MOJO magazine this is effectively anticipated in the contents page. The use of the page numbers in the bold red font on a white background allow it to be easily spotted   and by having page numbers here present it will also allow it to be easily spotted and by having page numbers here present it will also allow for easy navigation of the magazine.
As can be easily spotted from the front cover that “Pink Floyd”, are the main focus of this addition of MOJO magazine.  At the bottom third of the page there is an easily distinguished box with writing saying “cover story” as it says under it “Pink Floyd” it is clear to see that they will be the main aim of the cover story. In small black print there is then a blurb into what will feature in the cover story. This allows the reader to then see what the main aims of the story are. This allows the reader to see if the story is something they will want to read. Underneath the cover story there is a pull quote from Billy Idol and beside the blurb there is page numbers this also allows the reader to find quite easily the pages that this story will feature on.

The use of the image taking up the whole size of the page allows the reader to clearly see that artist featured and they will be able to tell just by looking at the image that he will be featured in the magazine somewhere. The use of the mid shot clearly establishes that the main aim of the image is to focus on the top half of the image. The use of the facial expression of the artist featured shows that perhaps the artist isn’t a friendly person or it may be just the way he portrays his music. The use of the artist featured making eye contact creates a more personal effect to the magazine as it looks like he personally is looking at the reader directly.

In small white writing you can see that the credits of the image are noted as “Getty images”, as this magazine is so popular and has so many readers per month/issue it will bring custom to Getty image themselves and therefore they will want to feature more often in MOJO magazine and its making their business profits and makes them recognised.
